Texas Hold'em Hand Rankings
BGP Texas Hold'em tournaments are played using traditional poker rankings (outlined below, highest to lowest), with the player holding the highest ranking hand winning the pot.

Note: The odds shown on this page are not intended to be exact, but they do represent reasonable estimates based upon currently available calculation methods.

Royal Flush: Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten of the same suit.

In the event of a tie: All players holding a Royal Flush will split the pot.

Straight Flush: Five cards in sequence, of the same suit.

In the event of a tie: The highest rank at the top of the sequence wins. If two or more players have the same sequence, the pot will be split.

Four of a Kind: Four cards of the same rank with one unrelated side card, or "kicker".

In the event of a tie: The highest rank four of a kind wins. If two or more players have the same four of a kind, the highest "kicker" wins. If there is still a tie, the pot will be split.

Full House: Three cards of the same rank plus two cards of a different, matching rank.

In the event of a tie: The highest three matching cards wins. If two or more players have the same three matching cards, the highest rank of the two matching cards wins. If there is still a tie, the pot will be split.

Flush: Five cards of the same suit.

In the event of a tie: The highest ranked card wins. If necessary, the second-, third-, fourth-, and fifth-highest ranked card can be used to break the tie. If there is still a tie, the pot will be split.

Straight: Five cards in sequence.

In the event of a tie: The highest ranking card at the top of the sequence wins. If there is still a tie, the pot will be split.

Three of a Kind: Three cards of the same rank and two unrelated side cards.

In the event of a tie: The highest ranking three of a kind wins. If two or more players have the same three of a kind, the highest side card wins. If necessary, the second-highest side card may be used to break the tie. If there is still a tie, the pot will be split.

Two Pair: Two cards of the same rank plus two cards of a different matching rank and one unrelated side card, or "kicker".

In the event of a tie: The highest ranking pair wins. If two or more players have the same highest pair, the highest second pair wins. If both players have identical pairs, the highest "kicker" wins. If there is still a tie, the pot will be split.

One Pair: Two cards of the same rank and three unrelated side cards.

In the event of a tie: The highest ranking pair wins. If two or more players have the same pair, the highest side card wins and, if necessary, the second- and third-highest side card can be used to break the tie. If there is still a tie, the pot will be split.

High Card: Any hand that does not fall under a category listed above.

In the event of a tie: The highest card wins and, if necessary, the second-, third-, fourth- and fifth-highest card can be used to break the tie. If there is still a tie, the pot will be split.
